Greenland from the Air

On 2002 April 1 I flew on Delta's flight 117 from Stuttgart, Germany, to Atlanta, Georgia, USA. As usual I was sitting on a window seat. Most of the times, this flight passes well south of the southern tip of Greenland, but due to weather conditions (avoiding the jet stream?), this time the flight crossed over south Greenland. The air was unusually clear, giving those few of us who looked out of the window instead of watching the movie "Behind Enemy Lines" (one of the worst movies I have ever tried to watch) gorgeous views of Greenland.

Below is a selection of pictures I took with a Canon Digital IXUS 300. These pictures have not been retouched or modified by electronic means, except for rotating a few pictures by 90 degrees. For most pictures, I set the camera to infinity and left all other settings at their defaults. Some pictures are somewhat unsharp in the lower left corner. That is due to a problem of this camera, which I have since exchanged that does not have this flaw.
